The Central Philosophical Claim

CMAC begins with a single question:

What structure must exist if anything exists at all, without presupposing scale?

The answer: B = 1 on S² (bandwidth constraint on the 2-sphere).

This is not an axiom imposed from outside. It is derived from the requirement that existence be self-consistent without presupposing any particular size, duration, or dimensionful quantity.

P001: The Zero-Axiom Foundation

The motivational paper. Read this first.

The argument:

  1. “Existence without scale” requires a structure that can differentiate (have parts) without presupposing any magnitude.
  2. Differentiation on a compact, simply-connected manifold requires bounded bandwidth.
  3. The minimal such bound is B = 1 on S².
  4. This forces the regular octahedron as the unique geometric solution (Snap Theorem).

  • The capacity coefficients (c₁, c₂, c₃)

The philosophical step: The inference from “existence without scale” to B = 1 is motivational, not a theorem. You can accept or reject this step without affecting the mathematical content.

P028: Atemporal Self-Differentiation

The first philosophy extension. Speculative but rigorous.

The argument:

  • The bandwidth constraint describes atemporal self-differentiation.
  • “Before” time exists, there is pure capacity — the potential for distinction.
  • The octahedron is the structure of primordial self-distinction.

Connections:

  • Kashmir Shaivism: spanda (vibration) as primordial differentiation
  • Hua-yen Buddhism: mutual interpenetration of all phenomena
  • Neoplatonism: the One differentiating into the Many

Note: This paper is clearly labeled as an extension. It makes no claim that consciousness or philosophy is required for the physics. Physicists can ignore it entirely.

P029: Voyager Observer Classification

The second philosophy extension. Even more speculative.

The argument:

  • Observers can be classified by their capacity to render distinctions.
  • The “Voyager” is a hypothetical observer at the boundary of rendering capacity.
  • Classification scheme relates to contemplative traditions’ observer typologies.

Note: This is the most speculative paper in the programme. It is not required for any physics result.

Key Philosophical Questions

Is B = 1 an axiom?

No. The formal programme begins with B = 1 as a starting point, but P001 argues it is derived from “existence without scale.” Whether you accept this derivation is a separate philosophical question from whether the mathematics works.

Is this reductionist or holistic?

Both. The octahedron is maximally holistic (irreducible symmetry) but generates all structure through spectral decomposition (analysis into parts).

What about consciousness?

P028–P029 explore this, but the physics papers P001–P020 are independent of any consciousness claim. The programme does not require consciousness for physics.

How does this relate to contemplative traditions?

The programme was developed with influence from Kashmir Shaivism and Hua-yen Buddhism. These traditions describe reality as arising from primordial self-distinction. CMAC formalizes this as B = 1.

What CMAC Does NOT Claim

  • Not a proof of God. The bandwidth constraint is mathematical, not theological.
  • Not idealism. Matter and spacetime are derived, not denied.
  • Not solipsism. The observer is constrained by the same geometry as everything else.
  • Not mysticism. Every claim is computationally verifiable.

The Bottom Line

CMAC is a mathematical programme that derives physics from geometry. The philosophical interpretation is separate from the mathematics. You can:

  1. Accept the philosophical motivation and the mathematics.
  2. Reject the philosophical motivation but accept the mathematics.
  3. Accept the philosophical motivation but doubt the mathematics (run the scripts).
  4. Reject both (identify a mathematical error).

The mathematics is the argument. The philosophy is the motivation.

Existence without scale. The octahedron computes the cosmos. Verify everything.
